                  I was tasked with creating a scheduling department program within the Project Controls group of Quanta Power Generation. The purpose was to develop engineering and construction schedules for renewable electrical power generation dealing with photovoltaic solar, combined cycle gas generation, bio waste and geo thermal projects. Projects range in size from 2.5 mw to 200 mw utilizing various technologies and equipment arrangements.

   Schedules were developed encompassing engineering, procurement and construction disciplines. I developed multiple schedules at the same time for proposals and ongoing projects and then worked them concurrently. Schedules were resource loaded, logic driven and earned value measurement (EVM) based. Software used for scheduling included Primavera P6, 7 & 8, and Microsoft Project 2010. Schedule narratives and documentation were provided for proposal schedules and monthly reporting for both internal reports and external client monthly reports. Interfacing with all internal disciplines I provided an accurate representation of each disciplines workflow and status for their portion of the schedule.

      Scheduling on multiple projects, which included coal fired, combined cycle natural gas, geo thermal and nuclear projects.

The dollar cost of projects ranged from seven hundred million dollars to over a billion dollars,

                   I was lead site scheduler on the Comanche Unit 3 project from 02/2006 to 03/2009 located in Pueblo Colorado where I developed, tracked and had overall responsibility for the balance of plant schedule, which included assembly of the steam turbine and generator, all mechanical equipment and systems outside of the boiler and air quality control structures, all site civil work, all site electrical and distributed control systems work and piping systems either in their entirety or to termination point provided by other site contractors. This was a fully resource loaded schedule based on earned value method development in Primavera software, starting in version 3.1 and then migrating to Primavera version 5, 6 and 7. The scheduling effort encompassed multiple groups including engineering, procurement, contracting, construction and startup / commissioning and included other contractors and the client with schedules being developed, integrated and tracked in a master schedule

      All schedules were created in Primavera software utilizing earned value methods and performance analysis. I contributed to the generation of monthly reporting documentation by providing schedules, schedule analysis and validation for both internal Shaw reports and external client reports.  I developed proposal schedules for future work for both domestic and international clients. I developed and provided detailed steam turbine, generator construction schedules that were incorporated and utilized worldwide by Shaw.

The full proposal and construction schedules were logic driven, EVM based, resource loaded based off of an estimate provided from Timberline estimating software.

     I provided support and plan leadership including analytical oversight to other projects at Shaw as required.      Responsible for providing senior level support, plan leadership and analytical oversight to activities related to operations and maintenance scheduling in a municipal electric generating utility. Work was focused on building maintenance, equipment inspection and repair.  Duties included providing technical direction to various groups of professionals, support personnel, contractors, subcontractors and plant maintenance work groups. Developed detailed project planning, monitored execution and performance on short and long term projects at multiple work sites. Working with contract specialists I developed work scopes for Request for Purchase (RFP) as well as review of the returned RFP’s, participated in contractor / subcontractor selection and execution of contacts. I conducted contractor performance reviews and project status updates for in progress projects and communicated with contractor’s the project status and schedule performance. I performed logistical planning for layout of projects, equipment and facilities; research, identify, locate and procurement of necessary equipment and parts. I was provided a broad sense of scope and objectives but I was accountable for development and execution of overall tactical plans to achieve objectives. Daily work planning and preventative work requests utilized the Maximo work management software. The major equipment overhaul and project planning utilized PSDI Maximo work management system (WMS) and Primavera P3, 5, and Microsoft Project software for project scheduling. The major outage planning involved defining the overall scope of a project, scheduling contractor accomplished work in the master schedule, detailing the individual disassembly, inspection, repair and reassembly of equipment and component parts. Work encompassed assemblies such as turbines (steam driven and hydro powered) steam generating boilers and all peripheral plant support equipment. Each project schedule activity was assigned a corresponding work order in the Maximo work management system with productivity being measured in the Maximo system.  I was assigned five sites to manage with a combined total of eleven separate generating units including coal fired, natural gas fired and hydro powered units.

This also included creation of a preventive maintenance program that included vibration monitoring, thermograph and oil sampling followed by analysis of data and creation of any needed equipment repair work requests generated in the Maximo work management system.

On a daily basis I was tasked with planning of construction projects and daily maintenance planning related to operations and maintenance in a municipal electric generating utility. Duties included estimating labor and equipment costs; defining, locating and procurement of equipment, parts and services; physical inspections of systems and equipment and the scheduling coordination of different crafts. The primary work groups I was assigned were electrical and instrumentation & control, with assistance given to the mechanical group as required.  I developed scope of work for contacts for services; initial reviewing of RFP’s for service and material bids; review and monitor contractor performance; preparing outage reports; and maintaining and updating records in work management system (PSDI Maximo). Repaired and maintained production equipment for fossil fuel and hydroelectric power plants. Work was done on twelve different power units in six different sites including coal fired, gas fired and hydro powered units. Successfully served a US Department of Labor recognized four-year apprenticeship attaining the level of power plant mechanic specialist.
